An interesting site to promote debate and democracy, with a series of tools (see debate tracker, debatepedia, or debatabase which is a resource with arguments for and against hundreds of debating Topics, written by expert debaters, judges and coaches. Also included are background summaries, links to websites of interest and recommended books, example motions and user comments. Interesting to see how it works and how the combination of different tools works.

IDEA website can be helpful in the process of picking a controversy to analyze. The “Debatabase”, in particular, help browsing through the hottest controversies to see the arguments for and against each of them as well as the main online and offline sources.

When reading a regular news article, I automatically look for links and scan the comments section. The comments section usually adds value to the article, but is unmoderated and thus prone to flamers.
This website is a fine middle ground, akin to a Literature & Debating society meeting. The important factor is structure.
